Found this lame physics applet on my PC which I created like 1.5 months ago. I always loved the visual effect of the Doppler-Effect, and in combination with some formulas about speed and mach and stuff, this came out.

The title Jaagstraler comes from the dutch word Straaljager, which means Jetfighter, so in english it should be.... Fightjetter :).

credits for PrivatePino for the name ;) [link]

The scale of the plane is 20:1, so you shouldn't compare it to the 1000m scale in the top. This is only to show how many meters the plane moves in how much time. So actually in this animation the plane should have been 20 times smaller, or it should go 20 times faster in reality, but that would screw up the animation.

Neither did I :P I was looking for a formula to calculate the Mach number, and found out that you had to divide the speed of the object by the speed of sound in the surrounding medium. I thought: Hmm, how do I calculate that then? ;P And that was a bit more complicated, so I decided to make it an Ideal gas with only the temperature as variable.

I thinkt that's the most interesting about building those things, because it can help me a lot with physics and math for school :).

ahh ok, and you´re right, flash is the perfect tool for programming easy things for the physics or math lesson. and a swf looks better than a java applet^^
